DISCIPLINES OF DISCIPLESHIP

WITNESSING

Witnessing is simply talking to people about God and what He’s done, and is doing in your life.

Witnessing involves listening for the Holy Spirit’s promptings to share with people as you go through your day.

Witnessing is for every disciple.  It strengthens our faith, our relationship with God; and when we’re obedient to do it, it’s a lot of fun and brings us great joy.

Here’s a great and simple plan to help you be a witness to others. Choose 5 people in your life who don’t yet know the Lord. Go to them and tell them that you’re praying for people’s needs.  Ask them how you can pray for them.  Be faithful to pray for them.  Go back after some time has passed and ask them how it’s going.  Keep praying and build your relationship with them.  Listen carefully for any needs they may have when they tell you what’s going on in their lives. Keep your ears open for opportunities to meet a need they may have. Demonstrate tangible love to them.

Be patient and don’t push anything on them. Eventually they’ll ask why you’re so different than most people.  Use that opportunity to share your story with them.  Explain to them what happened to you – how you turned from being selfish to wanting to serve people.  Then share His (God’s) story with them.

Declare this now:  Thank You God, that You will help me talk to people about You and what You’re doing in my life, every day.
