MISSION:FELLOWSHIP & COMMUNITY 2

In Acts 2:42-47 we get a glimpse into biblical community.  Today many of us lack this foundational experience.  Our congregational life may only consist of being part of a church model in which we go to a weekly service to worship God, and hear a message.  That doesn’t allow us to build deep relationships with each other.

Some of us may not be involved in any type of congregation life, thinking we can get spiritually fed from the internet, television, books and/or cds.  While some of our most valuable spiritual feeding comes from our studies alone with God, there’s a dynamic that is required for our true spiritual health than comes from being in covenant relationship with other Believers. These type of relationships allow us to fulfill God’s perfect will for our lives and for the life of the Body of Messiah.  We are invaluable to the Lord and to each other.  Who would want a hand cut off from it’s arm? It sure wouldn’t function the way God intended it to that way!

Real biblical community involves meeting more than once a week and is cultivated by our devoting ourselves to the apostle’s teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to praying together.

How can we cultivate this more in our lives? How can we help others understand this important aspect of our faith? Brainstorm some different ideas about this with your Mentor.
