ONLINE BIBLE STUDY
MISSION:DETAILS FOR PARTICIPANTS ONLY
Introduction
.
The purpose of this Bible study is to get to know God and His ways. In John 17:3 the Scriptures teach us that eternal life is wrapped up in our knowing God, and the Messiah. The #1 purpose and blessing of being “born-again” is a restored relationship with our Creator – God. God doesn’t save us to put us into slavery so we constantly have to do things for Him. He saves us so we can know Him and be in relationship with Him. Ultimately our relationship culminates in our marriage with God, if we’re willing to devote the time and energy into building that relationship and become the people who God desires to spend by His side for eternity. For this to happen we must be willing to be changed by God. We must be open to Him and join every part of our life and being – our deepest parts, our heart, soul, wounds, longings, desires, everything about us – to God.
God desires intimacy with His true Bride; and Scripture is clear in Matthew 7:21-23 that many who think they’re in relationship with God will actually hear Him say to them “depart from Me I never knew you.”
As we go through this sequential look at God’s Word let’s do so with the intent to know God more and let Him help us to know ourselves more so we can be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may know the perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)
After each time of study spend time thinking about God. A.W. Tozer says that the highest thoughts a man can think are thoughts about God. Let’s discipline our minds to say “no” to the distractions of the world and say “yes” to God. Using a journal is a great way to capture Scriptures that stand out to you, as well as thoughts about God that you’d like to remember and meditate on at a later time. Let the Holy Spirit guide you into all truth, as we seek to build our relationship with the lover of our souls.
Let’s not be in a hurry to get through these studies, either together or when we go over them on our own. Our society trains us to be rushed; and God’s ways simply are not that way.
Our Bible study will be live and online; and will not be a “teaching” per-say, but a discussion. Each of us has a perspective that is valuable, as we are all unique parts of His Body on earth. On this webpage you’ll find the weekly discussion notes to read, download and/or print, should you want to. We encourage you to take notes during our study times; and seek God after the study is over, for deeper clarification and application in your life.
Unfortunately, teachers have become idols in the Body of Christ and a clergy/laity mentality prevails, causing many in the Church to live powerless lives. This Bible study’s aim is to tear down that false paradigm and focus on Messiah as the Head, and His Body as Ambassadors of God’s Kingdom on earth. Our goal will be to look to each other to function in the different roles the Lord has for us, building us all up into the world-changers that we’re destined to be.
Bible Study Goal
Eph. 4: 11-16 And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into a mature man with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness. 14 Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit. 15 But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head—Christ. 16 From Him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building up itself in love by the proper working of each individual part.
A prayer to pray before each study time
Father, we come before you in the Name of Jesus/Yeshua our Messiah, and Lord. Holy Spirit, teach us and give us wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God as we study Your Word today. Help us apply what we’re learning to our lives; and transform us into the image of Jesus/Yeshua, the Beloved Son of God. Thank You for renewing our minds by the power of Your Spirit, and Your Word. Amen.
